Terms of Service

• Accurate Information: You must provide accurate, complete information when creating an account and keep it up to date. A valid email address and acceptance of these Terms are the minimum requirements for free use.
• Account Security: You are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Please notify us promptly of any unauthorized access.
• No Sharing: You may not share your account or login credentials with any third party unless explicitly authorized by Bertlo in writing.

You agree to use Bertlo Services only for lawful purposes, and you represent that:

• Rights to Uploaded Content: You have all necessary rights (ownership, license, or authorization) to every file, text, image, audio, and document you submit to Bertlo for translation, transcription, summarization, or other processing.
• Safe Files: You have taken reasonable steps to ensure your uploads are free of viruses, malware, or other content harmful to our systems or other users.
• Responsibility for Collaborators: You are responsible for how you use the platform and for how anyone you invite to collaborate (reviewers, editors, teammates) uses it.

You strictly may not:

• Submit, translate, or share content that is illegal, deceptive, threatening, harassing, or infringes on third-party intellectual property.
• Use automated systems, scrapers, or bots to interact with the Service outside the scope of your designated plan.
• Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract the AI models or protective systems powering Bertlo.

• You retain ownership: The text, documents, images, audio, and other content you provide ("Your Content") remain yours. Bertlo does not claim any ownership over Your Content.
• Limited license to Bertlo: To deliver the Services, you grant Bertlo a non-exclusive, time-limited, royalty-free, sub-licensable right — solely to the extent needed to temporarily store, process, translate, transcribe, summarize, and return results to you, including via our cloud infrastructure and AI sub-processors.
• Deletion on request: You may delete your content from your personal workspace at any time. Once deleted, Bertlo does not retain copies of that content (other than temporary copies in operational logs or backups, which expire on their normal rotation schedule).
• Zero AI Training: We DO NOT use your uploaded documents, transcribed audio, or meeting notes to train our foundation AI models unless you explicitly opt in to our improvement program.

• Premium Tiers: Certain functionalities require a paid subscription. Fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis and renew automatically until you cancel.
• Free Trial: If we offer a free trial, you will not be charged during the trial period. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan and the applicable fee will be charged to your payment method. Trial availability and length may vary by plan and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
• Automatic Renewal: Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing cycle (monthly or annually) at the then-current price, unless you cancel before the renewal date. By subscribing, you authorize Bertlo and our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy) to charge your saved payment method for each renewal until you cancel.
• Price Changes: We may change our subscription prices from time to time. Any price change will be communicated in advance and will take effect on your next billing cycle. If you do not agree to a new price, you may cancel before it takes effect.
• Taxes: All fees are exclusive of applicable taxes (such as VAT or sales tax) unless stated otherwise. As our Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy calculates, collects, and remits any required taxes at checkout based on your billing location.

• 14-Day Money-Back Guarantee: We offer a 14-day refund period for first-time subscriptions. If you are unsatisfied with Bertlo's premium features, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase by contacting support@bertlo.com.
• Usage Threshold & Restrictions: To ensure you have a fair opportunity to evaluate Bertlo, we allow product testing. However, to prevent software abuse, refund requests will only be approved if your total usage has NOT exceeded 5% of the allocated resources/tokens provided in your current billing cycle. If the system records usage beyond this 5% trial threshold, your purchase is considered final and strictly non-refundable upon cancellation.
• Forgotten Auto-Renewals: Subscription renewals are processed automatically. Prepaid fees for automatic renewals are generally non-refundable. However, if you forgot to cancel and were automatically charged, you may request a refund within 14 days of the renewal date, provided that you have NOT logged in or consumed any system resources since the renewal occurred.
• Cancellations: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Prepaid fees are generally non-refundable for the unused portion of your term, except where required by applicable law. Upon cancellation, your premium access will remain active until the end of your current paid billing cycle.
• Additional Terms & Processing Time:
  • Limit One Per Customer: To prevent exploitation, each user (defined by unique identity, organization, or payment method) is eligible for the 14-day money-back guarantee ONCE. Creating multiple accounts to abuse this policy is strictly prohibited.
  • Processing Time: Once approved, refunds will be issued to the original payment method. It typically takes 5 to 10 business days for the funds to reflect in your account, depending on your financial institution.
  • Currency & Exchange Fluctuations: Neither Bertlo nor Lemon Squeezy is responsible for any discrepancies in the final refunded amount due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or international transaction fees charged by your card issuer.
• Merchant of Record Notice: Since our payments are processed via Lemon Squeezy (our authorized Merchant of Record), all refund requests and chargeback disputes will be handled in accordance with their standard operating procedures, compliance checks, and risk assessments.

• Support scope: For free accounts, Bertlo provides assistance through our FAQ and email replies to support form submissions. Paying customers receive support under the terms of their applicable plan.
• Technology: Bertlo primarily uses our own technology, which may be combined with open-source software and third-party AI/infrastructure services. The platform is designed and managed by Bertlo.
• Adding or removing features: We reserve the right to add, remove, or adapt features. For paying customers, we commit to maintaining materially equivalent service quality during the subscription term you have paid for; material changes affecting paid features will be communicated with notice.

All rights, titles, and interests in the Bertlo Services — including our AI models, algorithms, software, website interfaces, brand, logos, and documentation — are the exclusive property of Bertlo and our licensors. You are granted a limited, personal, non-exclusive license to use the Services under these Terms; no ownership rights in these elements are transferred to you.

• AI Outputs: Translation and speech-to-text models can make errors. The Service is provided "AS IS" — there is no independent, objective, automated measure that can guarantee perfect machine-translation quality. You are responsible for verifying critical content before relying on it.
• Effects on document layout: The translation process may alter document structure — for example, translated text may have a different length than the original and may not fit the original layout. This is an inherent limitation of machine translation and does not constitute a defect in the Service.
• Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bertlo will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or data-loss damages arising from your use of the Services.

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you via email or a notice on our website. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of the updated Terms constitutes your acceptance.
